The Materials Technology Institute’s comprehensive Damage Assessment book, first published in 1990 and revised in 2012 provides expert experiences, methods and requirements necessary when investigating damage from unfortunate storms or incidents in the Process Industries. These best practices of incident investigation and damage assessment offer a significant focus on the creation of a response team and specific requirements and actions immediately after fire, explosion or storm-related events. This document offers guidance for industrial settings, such as chemical processing, refining, petrochemical, paper, and allied industries. Subject matter and industry experts were used to develop the guidelines. The guidelines represent the consensus of these experts and are not the sole view of the author.
